On Sunday, Ukraine’s SBU security service announced that it had tracked down and killed Russian agents responsible for the assassination of Colonel Ivan Voronich. Voronich was fatally attacked in Kyiv on Thursday.
The SBU reported that the operation involved a two-member team, consisting of a man and a woman, who executed the assassination. In their statement, the SBU indicated that a special operation was conducted to apprehend the Russian agents. During this operation, the agents reportedly resisted but were ultimately eliminated.
While the exact number of casualties during the operation was not disclosed, the SBU shared a video showing two bodies at the scene. The agency noted that the team responsible for Voronich’s killing had taken considerable time to familiarize themselves with his daily schedule and routines.
For over three years, Ukraine and Russia have been engaged in mutual accusations of assassinations targeting political and military leaders, alongside claims of sabotage and espionage activities.
