Polaris has a version of its MRZR Alpha vehicle with a power-offboarding system nearing production and a heavy-payload variant undergoing testing with the Marine Corps and U.S. Special Operations Command. The development of the ability for MRZR vehicles to generate electricity has been a focus, with two products created by Polaris, a 1-kilowatt exportable power system and a 5-kilowatt system.
The power export systems from Polaris can allow Marines to use technology without the need for a separate generator and take advantage of the additional energy. Prototypes of the 5-kilowatt variant have been delivered and are undergoing testing, with production expected to begin later in the year. Engineering change proposals are being worked on with the Marine Corps and Special Operations Command for their Ultra Light Tactical Vehicle and Lightweight Tactical All Terrain Vehicle contracts.
Additionally, Polaris is working with both organizations to determine the need for an MRZR vehicle with six times the payload weight capacity. The company has created an expanded payload version of the MRZR Alpha with greater payload space and weight capacity. Tests and experiments are being conducted to assess the capabilities of this new variant and determine if it fills a gap in the vehicle inventory between the MRZR and the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle.
