Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian troops are facing “extremely difficult” conditions along the frontline with Russia due to delayed foreign aid, particularly in the aftermath of the capture of Avdiivka, a key town in southeastern Ukraine.
President Joe Biden expressed his confidence that the US Congress would approve a $60 billion US aid package for Ukraine.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said he was confident that the US Congress and other international supporters would come through with the aid.
Zelensky stated that Ukrainian towns such as Selydove are now under threat from Russian forces, as the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine continue to be targets of a Russian offensive.
Ukraine is also facing border tensions with Poland, where blocking of border crossings by Polish farmers and truckers has led to strained relations between the two countries and has hindered important export lifelines for Ukraine.
