Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russia fired over 40 missiles and 40 drones at Ukraine, targeting critical infrastructure in Kharkiv and other cities. Kyiv confirmed a massive attack on major facilities but no casualties were reported. Zelensky thanked those involved in recovery efforts and air defense systems.
Moscow has been heavily attacking Ukraine’s energy facilities in recent months. Zelensky called on Western partners to provide more air defense systems. Interior Minister Igor Klymenko deployed hundreds of rescuers after massive shelling in five regions of Ukraine. The attacks left parts of Kharkiv without electricity, but no deaths or injuries were reported.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, explosions were reported, while in Lviv, Russia attacked a gas distribution facility and an electric substation, causing fires that were quickly extinguished. Russia claimed to have destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones overnight. Ukraine has been targeting Russia with drones for months.
