The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has ordered eight additional Forward Surgical Team (FST) stations from Rheinmetall for the country’s armed forces. Delivery is expected from 2024 to the end of 2026 as part of a German government training initiative. Each FST station is a container-based mounted rescue unit with specialized areas for triage, x-ray, surgery, and intensive care.
The order, in the mid-double-digit euros, includes training for Ukrainian personnel in Germany. Ukraine had previously ordered two FST stations in June 2023. Rheinmetall is also set to deliver a mobile field hospital to Ukraine in September with 32 beds, including eight for intensive care. Ten Ukrainian soldiers underwent training on the assembly, disassembly, transportation, and operation of the hospital.
Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger emphasized the high mobility, quick operation, and quality standards of the medical care facilities supplied to Ukraine. He stated that the new order underscores the success of previous deliveries and the company’s commitment to supporting the Ukrainian Forces with medical aid.
