On March 4, 2024, Ukraine blew up a railway bridge in Russia’s Samara region due to it being used to transport military cargo. This is part of a series of explosions targeting Russia’s rail network used for the invasion of Ukraine. The bridge was damaged at around 6:00 am and will not be usable for a long time. Russia was using the railway line to transport ammunition from a plant in Chapayevsk. The railway operator confirmed the incident, stating that rail traffic is suspended in that section. An explosive device damaged a pillar on the rail bridge, causing the destruction. No injuries were reported from the incident.
