Last week, the Netherlands and Romania announced each would be providing a Patriot air defense system for Ukraine. Amsterdam’s announcement came after securing Patriot parts for an assembled system, part of an initiative involving an undisclosed country. Currently, three Patriots are operational in Ukraine, with commitments from the US and Germany for additional systems.
In Romania, President Klaus Iohannis led a Supreme Council of Defense meeting where the decision to provide a Patriot system was announced. However, this decision is dependent on negotiations with allies for a replacement system. Romania currently has two operational Patriot systems.
