On Tuesday, pro-democracy activists reported that ten civilians were killed in the central Sudanese state of Al-Jazira. The attack was attributed to the paramilitary group known as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Madani Resistance Committee, a volunteer group involved in coordinating aid across Sudan, stated that the RSF carried out the attack on Monday night in the village of Barborab. This village is located approximately 85 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of the state capital, Wad Madani.
Al-Jazira state has become a significant battleground in the ongoing conflict between the RSF and the army. Over the past month, increased violence in the state has reportedly resulted in around 200 fatalities, according to officials and medical personnel.
Additionally, the United Nations’ humanitarian office (UNOCHA) has indicated that approximately 135,000 individuals have fled to other states due to the escalating violence.
