Russia accidentally bombed a village in the Voronezh region near Ukraine on January 2, 2024, with no casualties and damage to six houses. The incident occurred on the same day as a large-scale missile attack on Ukraine. The village of Petropavlovka is located 150 kilometers east of the Ukraine border. The governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, confirmed that some residents have been moved to temporary accommodation and seven households have been affected. This is not the first accidental bombing incident during Moscow’s almost two-year-long Ukraine offensive; in April last year, a bomb was accidentally dropped in the Russian city of Belgorod, near the Ukraine border, causing a blast.
