Russia reported on Thursday that Ukrainian special forces attempted to land on the Tendra Spit sandbar in the Black Sea, held by Russian troops, resulting in up to 25 Ukrainian personnel being killed. The defense ministry stated that Russian forces successfully repelled the Ukrainian commando group, who tried to land on speedboats, with one Ukrainian serviceman taken prisoner and four boats captured.
Ukrainian special forces confirmed that some of their personnel had died in the combat mission and stated that most of the group had withdrawn after completing a special mission. Ukrainian forces have been trying to cross the Dnipro River into the Kherson region occupied by Russian forces, managing to secure a bridgehead around the village of Krynky further north. However, attempts to advance further have been unsuccessful.
Russian President Putin claimed that the Russian army had regained control over Krynky earlier in the month, but Ukrainian authorities have disputed this assertion.
