The Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced two tenders for submarine parts due to difficulties in obtaining foreign technology. The first tender is for 885M-class boats, also known as Yasen-M nuclear submarines, requiring parts for an auxiliary electric propulsion system valued at 286 million rubles. Economic sanctions due to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine have made it hard for Russia to procure foreign components. The ministry aims to create a modified AEPS based on locally made components to overcome this challenge.
The second tender, valued at 295 million rubles, involves creating remote control devices for circuit breakers on Russian naval vessels. Currently, some vessels use switches from foreign companies that Russian-made circuit breakers cannot fully replace due to the lack of remote control devices. Implementing Russian versions would increase service life and reliability, reduce operating costs, and move towards full automation. The work for this contract would end by November 30, 2026.
