Poland’s army announced on Monday that their airspace was violated, likely by a drone, following Russian attacks on Ukraine that involved over 100 missiles and around 100 drones.
The Polish army general reported that an object entered Polish territory from Ukraine during the attacks, indicating it was not a missile and is likely an unmanned aerial vehicle.
The army is conducting searches for the object, believed to be around 30 kilometers into Polish territory, and suspects it could have been a Shahed-type drone of Iranian design used by the Russian army.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on European nations to assist in downing drones and missiles over Ukraine to protect lives.
Previous airspace violations by Russian missiles in Poland were reported in March and December 2023, with similar incidents occurring in November 2022, including a missile falling on a Polish village near the Ukrainian border.
