Iran launched about twice as many ballistic missiles on Tuesday compared to its previous attack on Israel earlier this year, according to the Pentagon. Pentagon spokesman Major General Pat Ryder stated that the attack was larger in terms of the number of ballistic missiles launched. Initial reports indicated that Israel was able to intercept the majority of incoming missiles, with minimal damage on the ground. Two American destroyers fired about a dozen interceptors as part of the defensive effort. Iran claimed the attack was in response to the killings of Hezbollah chief Hasan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. This attack followed another wave of drones and missiles launched by Iran in April after an air strike attributed to Israel hit Tehran’s diplomatic mission in Damascus.
