An advanced electronic warfare system for the Air Force’s F-15 fighters, called Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS), completed key operational testing. BAE Systems manufactures EPAWSS, providing electronic warfare capabilities for F-15E Strike Eagle and F-15EX fighters. EPAWSS allows monitoring, jamming, and deceiving threats, enhancing maneuverability in enemy territory.
Initially central to F-15EX, EPAWSS is expanding to F-15Es after Boeing’s $293 million contract with BAE in September 2022. Maj. Bryant Baum praised EPAWSS as a leap in technology improving combat capabilities in contested environments. BAE is working on improving EPAWSS with cognitive electronic warfare, harnessing AI technology.
During Air Force’s Northern Edge 2023 exercise in Alaska, EPAWSS’s cognitive EW capabilities were tested. BAE updated EPAWSS mission software to improve jamming capabilities and adaptability to new threats. Collaborating closely with the Air Force, BAE aims to provide tactical spectrum overmatch against unpredictable and evolving threats.
