Northrop Grumman is planning to produce medium caliber ammunition in Ukraine, a project funded by Kyiv and expected to expand to larger calibers in the future. Dave Bartell, director of international business at Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, announced the plan at the Eurosatory arms show in Paris. The project marks the first US defense venture in Ukraine, unlike recent European projects such as Rheinmetall’s plant for Lynx Infantry Fighting Vehicle manufacturing. Northrop currently produces various medium caliber ammunition compatible with weapons like the M61 Vulcan rotary cannon and the Bushmaster Chain Gun. Specific details on the project were not disclosed by Bartell, who spoke with Stanley Brown of the US State Department about the new Ukraine Defense Enterprise Program investing $2 billion in the Ukraine defense industrial base.
