Italy and France have committed to more closely integrating their land warfare firms as the former seeks to join France-German tank program. A letter of intent was signed in Corsica by the defense ministers of France and Italy, calling for the creation of a European industrial land hub. The deal includes cooperation on the Main Ground Combat System (MGCS) as a focus for teamwork. Italy had previously signed an action plan for broad cooperation with Germany in November to enter the program. The cooperation also includes a new €5 billion Italian program to build infantry fighting vehicles, with an ongoing feasibility study by Leonardo and Iveco.
