Clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary RSF have killed at least 25 civilians in El-Fasher, North Darfur. The Emergency Lawyers committee has been documenting atrocities in the city and surrounding villages during the year-long conflict. The UN and US have warned of a catastrophic breakdown of peace in El-Fasher, a key humanitarian hub in Darfur, which is home to a quarter of Sudan’s population. Eyewitnesses from the displacement camp of Abu Shouk reported hundreds fleeing towards the city due to clashes. The health infrastructure in Darfur is nearly collapsed, with 70% of health facilities across Sudan out of service. Both sides have been accused of war crimes, including targeting civilians and aid workers, indiscriminate shelling, and torture. The war has killed thousands and displaced over 8.5 million people, with many in Darfur being displaced multiple times.
