The U.S. Army successfully launched new long-range missiles from an uncrewed missile launcher prototype off the coast of Palau, with Brig. Gen. Jeffrey VanAntwerp praising the fantastic results. Soldiers from the 3rd Multi-Domain Task Force and the 1-181 Artillery Regiment of the Tennessee National Guard utilized the Precision Strike Missiles and Autonomous Multi-Domain Launcher to sink a moving ship during the Navy-led Valiant Shield exercise. The Army’s efforts in the Pacific aim to provide long-range precision fires and support for potential conflict with China.
Meanwhile, U.S. Army Pacific conducted research and experimentation with high-altitude balloons and the Vanilla Ultra-Long Endurance Unmanned Aircraft System during Valiant Shield for sensing, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and communications. The exercise validated communication architecture and joint requirements, particularly focusing on the Air Force’s agile combat employment concept. VanAntwerp emphasized the importance of collaborating with joint partners to enhance effectiveness in multi-domain task forces.
