The Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin a $3.2 billion multiyear contract for AGM-158C Long Range Anti-Ship Missiles (LRASM) and AGM-158B Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles (JASSM). This contract will also include foreign military sales to Japan, the Netherlands, Finland, and Poland. The missiles will be built in Orlando, Florida, and completion is expected by the end of July 2032.
The Pentagon proposed using multiyear procurement authorities for munitions in 2023 to strengthen the U.S. defense industrial base and deter China. This move was also influenced by the need to support Ukraine against Russian invasion. Lockheed will use this contract to increase its production capacity for JASSMs and LRASMs.
The State Department approved a possible $405 million sale of 100 Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missiles-Extended Range to Australia. This sale would support U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by helping Australia improve allied aircraft’s ability to survive conflicts. Northrop Grumman will manufacture these missiles for Australia.
