Lithuania has announced that it will allocate 15 million euros ($16 million) to establish a rehabilitation program for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė revealed that the government will allocate the funds for the reconstruction of hospitals and training of medical specialists to assist wounded Ukrainian soldiers in their recovery. Development of major facilities in the cities of Lviv, Dnipro, and Zhytomyr will also be covered. Lithuania is one of Kyiv’s biggest supporters in the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, having provided more than 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion) worth of aid since the beginning of the conflict.
Humanitarian Causes in Kyiv
Aside from Lithuania, other countries have revealed plans to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Earlier this month, South Korea unveiled a $12-million package for the recovery of wounded soldiers in the country. The aid will be transferred via NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package Trust Fund for Ukraine. The Dell Loy Hansen Family Foundation, a US nonprofit, also announced its collaboration with the Kyiv Regional Military Administration for the creation of a rehab center that will cater to the physical and psychological needs of individuals affected by the war, as well as the reconstruction of 10 schools destroyed during the conflict.
