Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized certain allies for the limited range of strikes against Russian forces, attributing it to “obvious short-sightedness.” In a recent video address, he expressed gratitude to allies sending military aid packages to Ukraine.
Zelensky has been requesting long-range missiles from Western countries, but some have hesitated due to concerns about potential misuse. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, for example, opposed sending Taurus cruise missiles without deploying German soldiers. The US also faced delays in approving the transfer of the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) to Ukraine.
Despite frustrations with some allies, Zelensky thanked supportive partners like the US and Denmark for providing additional defense aid. He also appreciated the Czech Republic and other countries for participating in initiatives to supply artillery shells to Kyiv. Zelensky emphasized the importance of strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities to prevent further destruction in Europe and called for unified support in stopping Putin’s aggressive expansion.
