Lebanese official media reported that five people, including three Syrian children, were killed in separate Israeli strikes in south Lebanon on Tuesday. The National News Agency (NNA) stated that the three Syrian children were killed in an enemy raid that targeted farmland in the village of Umm Toot. The NNA also mentioned that an enemy drone strike killed two Syrians on the Kfar Tebnit road.
Hezbollah responded to the Israeli strikes by launching rocket fire at northern Israel. The group cited the deaths of two civilians in Kfar Tebnit and the massacre in Umm Toot village as reasons for their retaliatory actions. The United Nations children’s agency expressed concern for the safety of more children as the violence continues, especially after three children were killed in front of their home in south Lebanon.
The Israeli military identified a total of 50 projectiles fired from Lebanon on Tuesday and launched strikes against Hezbollah sites in south Lebanon, including a “terrorist cell” in the Yarin area near Umm Toot. The cross-border violence has resulted in 511 deaths in Lebanon, mostly fighters, and at least 104 civilians. In Israel, 17 soldiers and 13 civilians have been killed. The ongoing violence has raised fears of a broader conflict between the two sides.
