A wave of drone strikes targeted Russia’s oil refineries and border regions for the second day in a row on Wednesday, with one sparking a fire and injuring several people in the Ryazan region.
Dozens of drones were launched overnight, with the vast majority shot down, causing some damage but no victims, over the Ukrainian border regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh, according to regional governors.
One drone sparked a fire and wounded several people when it crashed into an oil refinery in the Ryazan region that lies some 200 kilometers southeast of Moscow. Governor Malkov confirmed the attack and injuries.
In the Leningrad region near Saint Petersburg, another drone targeting an oil refinery was shot down with no damage or victims, according to Governor Drozdenko.
Multiple drones were targeted over the Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk regions with varying degrees of damage and power outages reported in some areas.
On Tuesday, Ukraine launched significant drone strikes on Russia, hitting energy sites including a major oil refinery in Kstovo and a fuel depot in Oryol, causing fires and damage to the infrastructure.
