The Netherlands and Denmark are set to deliver 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine before the end of summer, according to the Dutch defense minister. The tanks were purchased last year for 165 million euros and are currently undergoing verification tests for delivery.
The Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany also agreed to supply Kyiv with around 100 Leopard 1 tanks last year. Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans emphasized that Ukraine urgently needs more military support due to heavy fighting on the battlefield.
The tanks are viewed as crucial for the Ukrainian army to defend against Russian troops. The announcement follows US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s statement two weeks ago that Dutch and Danish F-16 fighter jets were also being transferred to Ukraine.
