Gaza’s civil defense agency reported on Thursday that at least seven people had been killed in recent Israeli airstrikes in the Palestinian territory. This occurred just hours before Israel’s cabinet was scheduled to vote on a potential ceasefire deal.
In a statement, the agency mentioned that its crew had recovered five bodies and treated over ten injured individuals from under the rubble of a house that was bombed by the Israeli army in the Al-Rimal area, located west of Gaza City. Additionally, it reported retrieving the bodies of two more victims from a strike at the Al-Sha’biya intersection in the center of Gaza City.
These strikes took place a day after Qatar and the United States announced a ceasefire and hostage-release agreement between Israel and Hamas, which they hope could lead to a permanent resolution to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Israeli media indicated that the cabinet was poised to vote on the ceasefire agreement Thursday morning.
