The Israeli military conducted air strikes in Lebanon after cross-border fire wounded several people in northern Israel. Lebanese media reported air raids on southern villages, including Adchit, Sawwaneh, and Shihabiyeh. Seven people were wounded, with five in the town of Safed, and an AFP photographer saw a wounded person evacuated by military helicopter from Safed’s Ziv hospital. Hezbollah has traded near-daily fire with Israeli troops since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, and its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, warned that if Israel broadens the confrontation, Hezbollah will do the same. The likelihood of a full-blown conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has increased, with tens of thousands displaced on both sides of the border. Since the outbreak of the Hamas-Israel war on October 7, at least 243 people have been killed in Lebanon, most of them Hezbollah fighters, and nine soldiers and six civilians have been killed on the Israeli side.
