The IDF killed Ahmed Abdullah Abu Shalal in an airstrike, claiming he was planning a terrorist attack. Responsible for several terrorist attacks, including one in East Jerusalem, he was eliminated in a precision airstrike.
The strike occurred near the Balata camp in Nablus, where a car was hit, and a bystander reported a loud explosion, followed by Israeli troops pulling bodies from the wreckage.
The Palestinian health ministry received the body, and the IDF claimed Abu Shalal was planning an imminent terrorist attack, for which the IDF had intelligence. He had also been responsible for a shooting and bomb attack against Israeli soldiers.
The IDF also claimed that the terrorist infrastructure in the camp had been funded and guided by Iranian sources. The West Bank had experienced increased violence since the Israel-Hamas war began in October.
The West Bank has been occupied by Israel since the Six-Day War of 1967, and settlements in the region are considered illegal under international law.
