The Israeli military reported rocket barrages fired from Lebanon into northern Israel on Wednesday, following an Israeli strike that killed a senior Hezbollah commander in south Lebanon the day before.
Hezbollah has engaged in near-daily cross-border fire with the Israeli army since its Palestinian ally Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, leading to conflict in Gaza.
Approximately 90 projectiles crossed from Lebanon, with some intercepted and others causing fires in northern Israel. Another barrage of around 70 projectiles followed shortly after, the military said.
No casualties were reported, but the exchanges of fire have caused multiple brush fires on both sides of the border due to soaring temperatures.
Hezbollah retaliated for the strike that killed their commander by launching rockets at Israeli bases, causing casualties among their fighters.
The Lebanese military confirmed the importance of the killed commander and the location of the strike in Jouaiyya, 15 kilometers from the border.
The violence in Lebanon and Israel has resulted in numerous casualties, both among fighters and civilians, with tens of thousands of people displaced on both sides of the border.
The conflict began when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, leading to significant death tolls in both countries.
