Germany and Poland have agreed to create a coalition to supply armored vehicles to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The coalition, officially launching on March 26, was announced by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. Italy, Sweden, and the UK are the first confirmed members of the group, which will coordinate support for Ukraine’s military capabilities alongside the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG).
The UDCG has established various coalitions, including armored and drone groups, to provide long-term support for Ukraine. These groups focus on specific aspects of Ukraine’s defenses, coordinating military aid donations in monthly meetings. During a recent meeting at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Germany pledged 10,000 rounds of artillery shells, 100 armored infantry vehicles, and 500 million euros worth of transport equipment. The US also promised $300 million worth of air defense missiles, artillery rounds, and armor systems. About 50 countries, including Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, and Spain, are part of the alliance.
