Former war cabinet member Benny Gantz stated in Washington that Israel must focus on Hezbollah and the Lebanese border, as the two sides have been exchanging fire in support of Hamas. Gantz emphasized that Iran and its proxies are the primary concern. He mentioned that Israel should deal with the north rather than focus on Gaza.
Gantz criticized the evacuation of northern Israel during the recent hostilities with Hezbollah and stressed the need to prioritize the situation in the north moving forward. He highlighted the importance of securing the release of hostages in Gaza while also being prepared to take action in Lebanon if necessary.
Gantz, who left the government over Gaza war planning, referenced the October 7 Hamas attack, which resulted in numerous casualties and hostages. He also mentioned that Israel’s retaliation in Gaza has caused significant casualties, particularly among women and children.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant echoed Gantz’s sentiments during a visit to Netzarim Corridor in Gaza, emphasizing the need to be prepared for any developments on the Lebanese border. Gallant warned troops about the potential shift in the security situation and urged readiness for any escalation.
