China has the power to immediately stop Russia’s disastrous invasion of Ukraine with just one phone call. Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that Russia’s growing reliance on China means Chinese President Xi Jinping could order Russia to stop invading Ukraine if he chooses to. Stubb claimed that a phone call from President Xi would solve the crisis, forcing Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate peace.
US officials stated earlier this year that China is helping Moscow with its military expansion amid the war in Ukraine. This includes cooperation on drone production, space-based capabilities, and machine tool exports vital for producing ballistic missiles. British Defense Minister Grant Shapps confirmed that Beijing is sending “lethal aid” to Russia for use against Ukraine, and he stated there is evidence of close collaboration on combat equipment. Xi and Putin have met to bolster defense cooperation, with Xi emphasizing the need for a “political solution” to end the war.
