Ukraine has sent a military aid request to Estonia to support its ongoing defense against Russia’s aggression. The aid package amounts to 100 million euros (approximately $108.4 million) and will include unmanned aerial and ground systems, watercraft, medical solutions, and related supplies from Estonian industry partners.
However, Tallinn has not disclosed the timeline, quantities, or specific details of the potential donation due to security concerns. The Baltic state highlighted that this project aligns with its government’s commitment to allocate at least 0.25 percent of its annual gross domestic product (GDP) towards supporting Ukraine’s defense, which has been ongoing for three years.
Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur stated, “It was gratifying to see that there were a lot of Estonian manufacturers who offered their products,” and mentioned that feedback received from Ukraine will facilitate the swift delivery of aid.
Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Moscow in February 2022, Estonia has consistently pledged to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Recently, Tallinn announced a strategy to increase its defense spending to about five percent of its GDP for this purpose. Additionally, in February, Estonia announced it would send 10,000 artillery shells to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
