Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that “more than 1,000 members” of Hamas are being treated in Turkish hospitals during the war in Gaza. Erdogan called Hamas a “resistance organization” and criticized other countries labeling them as terrorists. Greece and Turkey have differing views on this issue. Hamas is considered a terrorist organization by Israel, the United States, and the European Union. The attack on Israel on October 7 resulted in the deaths of over 1,170 people, mostly civilians. Militants also seized around 250 hostages, with some being freed during a truce. Israel’s offensive in Gaza has caused the deaths of over 35,000 people, mainly women and children, according to the health ministry in Gaza.
