The Belgian government has approved additional military aid of 412 million euros ($448 million) for Ukraine, including artillery rounds. A total of 373.1 million euros ($405 million) in ammunition will be sourced from Belgian military stocks and industry. Details of the caliber and delivery date have not been provided. The Belgian Ministry of Defense plans a joint purchase with the Netherlands of reconnaissance drones and nearly 300 Lynx armored fighting vehicles.
The aid package also includes three sea mine hunters and armored ambulances. The countries will provide Ukrainian personnel with training to operate the mine hunters and maintenance. The ambulances will be bought by the Benelux countries, without specifying Luxembourg’s involvement. Belgium’s total contribution to Ukraine this year is now 575.7 million euros ($625 million).
