The U.S. Army’s Robotic Combat Vehicles will be part of an upcoming training rotation to fight against an opposing force. Major General Geoff Norman leads the Army’s combat vehicle modernization efforts.
There will be two National Training Center rotations this summer, with a unit from Fort Stewart in Georgia facing off against an RCV platoon. Another unit from Fort Riley in Kansas will attach the same RCV platoon to blue force.
The Army will receive two prototypes each from four teams competing to build the Robotic Combat Vehicle program platform this summer. Prototypes will undergo testing in Maryland and Arizona starting in August.
The Army plans to field the first unit with RCVs in fiscal 2028, following a production decision in FY27. Efforts are also underway to provide one platoon of RCVs to an Army Forces Command unit for continued experimentation.
Norman’s team is refining the organizational designs for RCV platoons and working on control vehicles prototypes using various armored vehicles for soldier feedback.
