Defense tech company Anduril Industries announced plans to build a new production facility in Rhode Island that can produce up to 200 Dive-LD autonomous underwater vehicles per year. The factory, located in Quonset Point, is expected to start operations in early 2026 and reach full capacity by the end of that year.
Anduril has received state support to establish the factory and recently secured a contract from the U.S. Navy for Dive-LD vehicles. The company will continue building hulls in its Quincy, Massachusetts facility until the new factory opens.
The new facility will create over 100 jobs in the next five years and help Anduril scale up production to meet growing demand. The company’s chief strategy officer highlighted the importance of demonstrating readiness to deliver large contracts through increased production capacity.
Quonset Point was chosen as the location for the factory due to its expertise in undersea technology and access to a skilled workforce. Anduril’s goal is to build a large fleet of AUVs using commercial-off-the-shelf components and advanced manufacturing techniques.
