Anduril Industries claims it can produce a cruise missile faster and cheaper with its new Barracuda line. The missiles are designed to address the Pentagon’s need for increased rearming capabilities in conflicts. The Barracuda missiles come in three versions, all equipped with autonomy software to work with various platforms. The company plans to use commercial components and simple design to lower costs.
Anduril is also building a factory called “Arsenal” to scale up production of weapons and drones. They are investing in production ahead of clear demand signals from U.S. and international customers. The company was founded in 2017 to bring a tech-company approach to Pentagon acquisition and is known for its autonomous, unmanned, and anti-drone systems.
