The Netherlands has completed a secretive training project for 300 Ukrainian marines, providing amphibious lessons and tactical training support.
The training effort involved Dutch Marine Corps specialists and military trainers from Norway, Sweden, the UK, and the US, focusing on trench-based deployments and urban warfare tactics.
The project was disclosed to the House of Representatives after completion due to potential security risks for the involved parties.
The Netherlands emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge with Ukrainian marines given Ukraine’s geography and coastlines.
The training included seasoned veterans with combat experience on the Ukrainian front lines, enhancing the training tailored to current circumstances.
The government highlighted the significance of the training for Ukrainian Armed Forces and broader European defense capabilities in the fight for sovereignty and security in Europe.
Numerous initiatives have been launched by the Netherlands to support Ukraine since the Russian attack two years ago, including supplying parts and munitions for Patriot defense systems and readiness to send F-16 Fighting Falcon jets to Kyiv if needed.
